As has been reported by me and may others on the net, the original plan by the developers of Neonopolis, where Star Trek the Experience will reopen, was to reopen it in phases, with Quark's and the shops opening on May 8th in time for the new movie's premiere. Now, however, CBS has stepped in and forbidden any phase of the attraction to be reopened in conjunction with the movie. No reason by CBS has been given, nor when any opening will take place. We'll keep you posted as more news on this comes in. Click here for more information.

Speaking of the new movie, there is going to be a very special night on May 9th at the Avalon Movie Theater on Santa Catalina Island, being billed as a Star Trek XI Roddenberry Evening. Attendees will be joined by Rod Roddenberry who will share with the audience at 7pm how Star Trek has impacted so many lives, including his, followed at 8pm by the new Star Trek movie. J. J. Abrams made a statement in a recent interview with the Times in London. In this interview, J. J. says, “The thing about Star Trek is, I was never really a big fan of it.....it always felt like someone else's show.” Later in the same interview, he gives a message for Star Trek purists, “I say, don't see the movie. Don't waste your money. Just get angry.” You can read the rest of this interview by clicking here.

MTV is reporting that the new movie is getting good reviews and the actors involved are even more excited about the film's reception. If you want to read more, click here, but be warned that this is a review.

As I reported last week in a breaking news, the opening date for Star Trek has been changed to May 7th with advance tickets already being sold in several cities with sales going at a very good pace. Examiner.com has more on that, on a new TV spot, and something going on sale for Trekkies who wish to take their Trek with them at the end. Click here for more information.

Word has reached Zap2It that Chris Pine is lobbying director Joe Carnahan for a role in the upcoming movie version of “The A-Team.” When asked which character on the show was his favorite, he responded that it was Howling Mad Murdock. Click here to read more.

TrekWeb is reporting on some book titles for Trek fans that will be coming later in the year. In a Pocket Books catalog, they are listed with tentative covers. Upcoming will be titles for fans of Enterprise, Voyager, Titan, Vanguard, and TOS Mirror Universe. More on these titles are release dates approach. If you want to read more, click this link.

Here's an interesting item. Computer owners who are Trek fans may now get a webcam for their machine in the shape of the original Enterprise. The cams hook up with USB and the camera lens is where the deflector is supposed to be. Click here for more information.

Finally for this week, we have a chance to learn a bit about the start up of the SciFi Channel from one of the co-founders, Mitchell Rubenstein, in a series of special articles for Hollywood.com. The current one is about how Issac Asimov and Gene Roddenberry came to be involved. Click here for the article.

See you tomorrow!
