Star Trek News: Lots of News on the Movie and Other Items of Interest

Time continues its march without pause. Every day we are getting closer to the new Star Trek movie. With J. J. Abrams' reboot give new life to the franchise, or will it be it's death knell? Only time will tell and that time approaches rapidly. In the meantime, here is the latest news from the Star Trek Universe.
The big news of the week has to be about the sequel to the new movie. That's right, I said the sequel or as many are calling it Star Trek 12. A month before the new movie hits theater screens worldwide, Paramount has signed the writing team of the new movie to write a sequel. It looks to this writer like Paramount is absolutely that they have a hit in the new movie. You can read more about this by clicking here.
FirstShowing.net has a story featuring photos from what is reportedly a new Star Trek playing cards deck. On their site, they have several images from the deck of cards. If you would like to check them out, just click here.
IO9 has some new images also, these from the new Star Trek trading cards which will be released shortly. One of the images is a very beautiful one of the Towers of Vulcan. You can check these images out by clicking here.
CinemaBlend.com announced the news this week that the new Star Trek movie has received its rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. The new film has received a PG-13, for scifi violence. They also have three images on the site with their report, one new, and the others from different angles. Click here to check it out.
CinemaBlend.com also has some photos from the recent ShoWest show in Las Vegas. Among the photos are a shot of special popcorn buckets that some theaters will be offering with the Star Trek cast pictured on it. Click here to read about ShoWest and see the image.
TrekWeb has an interview up with Zachary Quinto. In that interview, Quinto reveals that he is contracted for the proposed sequel and more sequels. To read the interview, please click here.

Finally for today, the Hollywood Wax Museum is offering wax figures of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and some other figures on May 1st. The details can be seen at this link.
