There is an old saying that good things come to those who wait. Ever since the creation of the Television Hall of Fame by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Trekkies from all over the world have wondered when the name Roddenberry would join the ranks of television immortals there. Finally, after 19 years, the day will finally come.

On Tuesday, the Hall of Fame selection committee announced the individuals who will make up the 19th class of members into that august body. Along with the comedy team The Smothers Brothers, actress Candice Bergen , announcer Don Pardo, “Price is Right creator Bob Stewart, and Emmy award winning art director Charles Lisanby is Star Trek's creator, Gene Roddenberry.

According to Television Academy President John Shaffner, “This year's inductees have challenged and shaped popular culture, changed television for the better, and entertained us royally while doing so.” The chairman of the selection committee, WME partner Mark Itkin, stated, “These individuals have each made extraordinary and lasting contributions that have meant so much to multiple generations of television viewers.”

The Hall of Fame Gala and Induction Ceremony is scheduled for January 20th at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

It is a shame that Majel and Gene aren't around to see this accolade. They are dearly missed and Star Trek has been part of my life for 40+ years...May you be blessed Eugene for keeping the dream alive for all of us.
